Silver Vesta Unusual Textured Finish Birmingham 1907

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Woodbridge Antiques

A superb and very stylish Edwardian solid silver Vesta case in a slightly concave shape with a wonderful and unusual textured finish to both the front and back. There is an unengraved circular cartouch in the centre and a loop to one side for attachment to a fob or chatalaine. Hinged on one side the lid opens and closes perfectly and makes a nice snap sound when closed. When opened clear hallmarks are visible on the inside lip of the Vesta for the Birmingham Assay Office, with a date mark for 1907 and the Lion Passant indicating sterling silver, along with the silversmith''s maker''s mark for Deakin & Francis. Partial hallmarks are also visible on the inside of the lid and the interior of the case is a lovely gilt finish.

This Vesta feels lovely to hold and is a good heavy gauge silver.

Definitely a collector''s item due to the wonderful unusual finish to the silver and the lovely collector''s antique condition. Finest quality associated with a fine maker - the craftmanship...
