Victorian Hunt And Roskell Silver Bowl London 1854

A truly superb, early Victorian, solid silver bowl. Beautifully proportioned the body of the bowl stands on a circular pedestal foot. It is wonderfully embossed in the ''Abercorn pattern'' which enhances the stunning shape of this bowl. The gilded interior of the bowl is a lovely deep golden colour. On the underneath of the foot the clear hallmarks are visible for the London Assay Office with a date mark for 1854, along with the Lion Passant indicating sterling silver. The craftmanship of the silversmith: John Samuel Hunt, is unmistakable and his maker''s marks are also very clear, along with the company name of Hunt & Roskell.

As well as being so aesthetically pleasing, this bowl is a good heavy gauge silver and feels nice and solid when picked up.
