Description:
Here is a fine quality antique Edwardian mahogany bookcase, in the style of the neo-classical Georgian period, circa 1900, in good original condition. This bookcase comprises a dentil cornice, with a glazed cabinet top and cupboard base below. The top of the cabinet boasts a shaped cornice with dental moulding. Below is a glazed shelved cabinet. The glazed doors boast decorative astragal beading, with the left hand door retaining the original inset brass bolt latches, while the right hand door retains its original working lock (with key). The inside of the cabinet is shelved, dividing it into 4 tiers. The shelves can be adjusted in height. The cabinet rests on cupboard base, which features two fielded panel doors, edged with parallel beading. The left hand door retains the original inset brass bolt latches, while the right hand door retains the original working lock. The inside of the base is divided into 2 tiers. The bookcase retains the original key, which operates both sets of doors. The base rests on its original plinth.

Condition Report:
This bookcase is in good original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant, considering the age of the item. The cabinet doors feature the original glass (which is not damaged). Both glazed doors retain their original working latches and locks; there is a working key. Likewise, the cupboard base retains its original brass lock with working key. As the bookcase boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination. The item is solid in joint and ready to use.
