The drawer with original turned rosewood knobs. The quality of the inside of the secretaire drawer is outstanding, as good as I have seen, all the drawers are mahogany lined throughout with the tiniest dovetails you have ever seen. The drawers all have their original small turned ebony knobs. Everything runs smoothly. The cupboard section is divided vertically in half and has two original, fully adjustable shelves, one on each side. There are also 6 additional later shelves as the previous owner had store documents.
The top section has two doors with really lovely simple glazing with a wee turned urn detail to the top. Nice shape cornice above with 5 fully adjustable shelves inside with beautifully moulded mahogany front edges.
Both sections have fancy reeded type square mouldings up the ends and there are numerous astragal mouldings decoration throughout.
Secretaire bookcase don't come much better than this from this early 19th century period.
SIZES; The base is 46" wide, 22" deep and 44" high to the split. The top section is 13" deep. The bookcase stands 84" high overall. There is also a 2" overhang at the back to allow the bookcase to go flush against a wall over any skirting.
