Gorgeous William 1v Mahogany Secretaire Bookcase Bureau C1820 Wdb590/25.7

This is a gorgeous william 1v mahogany secretaire bookcase and dating from around 1820. It has a flared cornice top with deep mahogany frieze above two arched glazed doors with brass escutcheon and three adjustable shelves. The base has a moulded edge to the top above a deep secretaire false drawer fall front which opens to reveal a lovely interior with pigeon holes to the centre and surrounded by varying drawers. It has a green baise writing surface which does have a very old ink stain but is perfectly usable and otherwise in good condition. Below the secretaire are three long deep drawers all of which are pine lined and with later victorian brass handles and escutcheons. To each side of the base there is a rounded tapering column with turned spanderals to the top. It stands on original turned feet.

The top is original to the base and dismantles for ease of transporting.

You will notice from the photograph of the centre pigeon holes that there is a very small piece missing to one of the arches this is in the process of being restored as I write. There has been no other restoration or repairs and it is in good original condition.

This is a most attractive secretaire of quality mahogany and in very good condition. It measures:
