Fine Victorian Silver Cream Jug London 1852

Sold by: Woodbridge Antiques

A superb early Victorian solid silver cream jug. Beautifully shaped and standing on a circular foot, with a lovely looped, leaf capped handle and exquisitely engraved with ''c'' scrolls and leaves with an empty cartouch within the very centre. Inside the jug, a nice pale lemon coloured gilt is visible, adding to the very attractive overall appearance.

The very finest quality of this jug is apparent, associated with a reputed silversmith: Charles Thomas and George Fox, whose marks are very clearly visible on the base of the jug, along with hallmarks for the London Assay Office and a date mark for 1852 and Lion Passant indicating sterling silver.
