William IV Silver Christening Mug London 1834

This wonderful example of an early, William IV, solid silver Christening Mug has a handsome fluted shaped body and a flared rim. It stands on an attractive pedestal foot and has a lovely large scroll handle to one side. The Mug has no embossing or engraving. The lovely fluid shape is perfectly balanced and feels nice in the hand . It is in lovely original condition for the age. A superb piece of the finest quality associated with a fine maker.
 
 
 
Hallmarks for the London Assay Office and a date mark for 1834 are clearly visible on the base of the mug, along with the lion passant indicating Sterling Silver and maker''s marks for Edward, Edward Junior, John & William Barnard.
