Fine Georgian Silver Salt London 1804

A lovely Georgian, solid silver salt dish of lovely large proportions and the finest quality of silverware. The dish is an oval shape that is slightly raised on either side, adding to the lovely lines of the Salt and sits on an oval foot. The silver has a heraldic emblem in the centre depicting a Lion and serpent. A gadrooned rim at the top and around the foot further enhances the aesthetic appeal. The gilded interior is a lovely golden yellow.
 
Very clear and crisp hallmarks are visible on the base for The London Assay Office with a date mark for 1804 and Lion Passant indicating sterling silver. The maker''s mark is also very clear for the Georgian Silversmiths Robert & Samuel Hennell.
