Very fine, Victorian, silver sugar tongs. Lovely simple design with no ornate engraving or embossing. There are some initials engraved on the top of the tongs ''IB'' (see photo No 5). Clear hallmarks are visible on the inside of the tongs for the Exeter Assay Office, as well as the Lion Passant for sterling silver and a date mark for 1845. There is also a Maker''s Mark for William Pope the renowned Devon Silversmith!
