Stunning Silver 'fish' Paperweight Chester 1909

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Woodbridge Antiques

An unusual, solid silver paperweight, in the form of a wonderfully crafted fish. The silversmith’s work is of highest standard and the fine detail on the fish is stunning. The fish itself acts as the handle and sits on an oval base. The underneath is covered in a green felt baize (probably replaced at some time). Hallmarks and maker’s marks are visible on the side of the oval base: Chester 1909 by Sampson Mordan.

Condition: This paperweight is in great antique condition. There is a minute ding on the surface of the oval near to the fish (this is hardly noticeable and is mentioned for accuracy only).

Hallmarks: Chester 1909 Maker: Sampson Mordan. Lion Passant denoting sterling silver.
