The interior comprises of three adjustable shelves, ideal for storing various sizes of books. The lower section has a rectangular moulded top above a beautifully carved secretaire drawer that folds down with the original brass clips to reveal a green baize writing insert, six birds-eye maple drawers with small turned handles and four pigeon holes. Beneath are two spectacular carved cupboard doors with moulded edge and key with working lock, the interior has one removable shelf. The piece as a whole stands on shaped bracket feet and splits into two sections for easy removal. The walnut has aged to a warm rich shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
