Miles Griffiths Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
It dates from around 1880 and is made in solid, quarter sawn oak which is a lovely pale colour. The top bookcase section has three glazed doors, inside are four solid adjustable shelves. The lower oak base has ten, very robust drawers, each has an ingenious weighted system to counter balance the heavy weight of paper when full. Each drawer has the original, large brass pull handles and brass name plates. In excellent, clean and solid condition throughout. Splits into two sections. Complete with the makers, ivorine label inside the top section. A very useful piece of good quality antique oak furniture by John Taylor & Son, Edinburgh.
