Quality Antique Oak Bookcase by Edwards & Roberts.

Description

This is a superb quality, English antique oak bookcase in a mildly Gothic manner.

Stamped by the makers, Edwards & Roberts who were one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers working in a variety of styles.

Made around 1870, this antique oak bookcase has a shaped cornice, paneled sides and Gothic panels inset either side of the doors.

The top two bookcase doors are glazed in the original, wobbly glass, inside are three adjustable shelves.

In the lower section, the two bookcase doors have burr oak strip inlays (a particular feature from Edwards & Roberts).

In superb condition throughout, a very good example of a Gothic oak bookcase by a leading London maker of that time.
