As part of our Japanese art collection we are delighted to offer this fantastic quality superb condition silver koro , the main body of the koro is finely decorated with multi coloured enamels, the lid surmounted with a pair of cast silver quail and the side handles formed as solid silver dragons, fine quality embossed silver decoration borders a pair of inset shibayama panels, these are decorated in semi precious shells and stones on a gold lacquer ground , and to an incredibly high standard, the front panel depicts a pair of Egrets in a lakeside setting beneath a trailing wisteria , the reverse is decorated with a hanging ikebana basket of Hydrangea amidst further exotic foliage , the koro is silver lined to the interior and signed in a gilt tablet to the underside, this translates to read MASAYUKI who was a highly regarded Shibayama artist from the period !!The condition is outstanding !!Approximate sizesHeight 8.5'' 21.5 cmWidth 8'' 20.5 cmDepth 5.5'' ...
