Japanese Silvered Bronze Dragon Okimono Meiji Period

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Steve Sly Japanese Works of Art

As part of our Japanese art collection we are delighted to offer this heavy quality Japanese silvered bronze Dragon , the entwinned Dragon is made from solid bronze, silvered and detailed with menacing gold and shakudo eyes, his pose allows for a well balanced stance using his tail and three claws , whilst his fourth claw holds aloft a large glass ball representative of the flaming pearl , he would sit nicely on a mantle shelf or in a display cabinet but he also sits snugly on the fine Japanese gold lacquered hardwood stand that accompanied him !

A great representation of a popular Asian subject !!

The condition is lovely and original , we suggest the Meiji period gold lacquer stand has been later matched although it suits him very well .
