Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

In the early 20th century, cylindrical silver cases were crafted as luxury vanity accessories designed to hold solid lipstick, cosmetic balms, or retractable graphite pencils, allowing refined transport within a handbag or chatelaine.

These cases were typically manufactured from solid silver or sterling silver, featuring hand-engraved or engine-turned exterior pattern work and a manual slide or push-up button mechanism to extend the internal contents.

Authentic Continental silver items generally bear small hallmarks or purity stamps, such as 800, 835, or 925 numeric marks, along with maker marks indicating European origin and period metal craftsmanship.

Small silver vanity items serve as decorative accent pieces when displayed on trinket trays, inside glass shadow boxes, or curated alongside perfume bottles on a dressing table or bathroom counter.

Maintain engraved silver by gently wiping with a soft silver-polishing cloth to remove tarnish, avoiding abrasive polishes that could wear down delicate surface engravings or leave residue in recessed areas.
