Description

A very high quality example of a Regency bookcase in mahogany. The beautifully understated, simple design consists of a plain moulded-edge slightly overhanging top, beneath which are two banks of open shelves. The top oversails at the back to bridge any possible gap created by a skirting board. All eight of the finely reeded mahogany-lipped adjustable-height shelves are original. It rests on simple turned foot supports of a design so typical of the period. This useful floorstanding open bookcase is English, dating from c.1820s.
