A PAIR OF LARGE VICTORIAN, GEORGE FOX, SILVER CHAMBERSTICKS, London 1865
Made by the silversmith, George Fox, this is a beautiful pair of cast silver chambersticks. They are very large for chambersticks - together they weigh 632 grams. The base has a shield shape with foliate embellished rocaille borders and ornate scrolling leaf-capped handles. The central bud-form nozzle is supported on a leafy calyx while the base is engraved with the Unicorn crest of IBBOTSON of Bosmere House, Suffolk. They are both in beautifully crisp condition, with clear hallmarks on the base.
