The pair of mahogany doors with boxwood stringing and astragal glazing carry ivory escutcheons and original brass fittings.
The flamed mahogany panelled secretaire drawer opens to reveal an interior with an arrangement of 'snake wood' veneered banded drawers, a secret compartment and inset baize lined writing surface. Below, a pair of oval panelled mahogany inlaid and rosewood cross-banded doors open to reveal an arrangement of mahogany and boxwood fronted storage trays. The bookcase stands on an ebony banded and boxwood strung apron and is supported on the original 'French' shaped bracket feet.
