Georgian Mahogany Astragal Glazed Antique Bookcase

This Georgian Mahogany Astragal Glazed Antique Bookcase circa, 1800 has a small raised back above a beautifully figured top with reeded edge. The frieze has a wonderful ebony string inlay above two astragal glazed doors with moulded edge, the key escutcheon is a lovely shield shape and also has the key with working lock. The interior of this super piece has three adjustable shelves and stands on shaped bracket feet and also benefits from maintaining the original backboards. This superb antique is a wonderful example of an adaptation that makes this piece this splendid size and would fit wonderfully in any small space. The Mahogany has aged to a warm shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
