Victorian Mellow Mahogany Antique Bookcase On Cupboard

This Victorian Mellow Mahogany Antique Bookcase On Cupboard circa, 1870 has a curved cornice with rounded corners above two glazed doors with arched mouldings with key with working lock. The interior has been later painted with two adjustable shelves. The lower section has a rectangular top again with rounded corners and beautifully figured half round moulding. This sits above a frieze drawer with decorative brass handles. The two cupboard doors have beautifully figured central panels, arched mouldings with key with working lock. The interior of this super bookcase has one fixed shelf and stands on a plain rounded plinth and splits into two sections for easy removal. As the bookcase is a genuine piece of antique furniture it has the usual minor old repairs and character marks that you can expect from a piece of this age. The mahogany has aged to a mellow shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
