Art Nouveau Oak Open Bookcase

1900 - 1920
Description

Circa 1910, tall and narrow oak Art Nouveau open bookcase, with a makers label at the top on the side for B.Maggs & Co, Bristol. The top has an unusual bow fronted section with three quarter brackets which form a decoration on the front and two similar ones on the sides. Beneath this is a stylish moulding which runs around the front and the sides. There are six shelves, four are adjustable and two are fixed, which have a moulded edge. Beneath the bottom shelf are quarter brackets, and the sides of the bookcase have a cut out to form the feet. Sturdy with a narrow floor space.

Size 179.5cm high x 48cm wide x 33cm deep.
