Victorian Mahogany Bow Front Glazed Bookcase

19th century
Description

Victorian 19th Century mahogany bow front glazed bookcase display cabinet. Rare and desirable proportions, with attractive swept bracket feet. This is a lovely quality piece, that is full of age charm and character. Beautiful patina and colour...a rare find, with a quality feel.

As with all genuine antique furniture, you can expect to see some historic knocks, marks, wear, imperfections, cracks, scratches, repairs and/or alterations. No key and the lock is untested (possibly needs attention). Historic woodworm holes (believed extinct) that we have treated for good measure. Note that the front of this bookcase is bowed, but the glass is flat. Some chipping to the feet as one would expect.

Overall maximum dimensions: 138cm wide, 30cm deep, 120cm high. Bottom plus 3 fixed shelves. Bottom: 128cm wide, 17.5-22.5cm deep, 28.5cm high space above. 1st: 128cm wide, 17.5-22.5cm deep, 25cm high space above. 2nd: 128cm wide, 15-20cm deep, 22cm high space above. Top: 128cm wide, 11.5-16cm deep, 20cm high space above.

Please check dimensions before purchasing.

Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
