Decorative Victorian Antique Glazed Bookcase

This Decorative Victorian Antique Glazed Bookcase circa 1870, has a moulded cornice above a deep decorative frieze with blind fretwork carvings above two glazed doors with decorative mouldings, side pilasters and brass lion head motifs, key with working lock. The interior has three adjustable shelves. The lower section has a cross banded top above two figured doors with beautifully figured oval panels and brass lion head handle, key with working lock. The interior has one fixed shelf and stands on a shaped apron. This bookcase at some stage has been carefully adapted to achieve this splendid look and it splits into two sections for easy removal. The wood has aged to a warm medium shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
