This listing is for a beautifully engraved English silver vesta case. The body is clearly hallmarked with the makers mark JG for Joseph Gloster, the lion, date letter m for 1896 and the anchor to indicate Birmingham. The lid is also marked with the lion and the date letter.The front of the vesta has clear space for someone to add initials etc. The back and front are beautifully engraved with an organic floral design that extends up onto the lid. The engraving is crisp, clear and shows no signs of wear. The vesta measures approx 4.5 x 3.5 x 1cm and weighs 21grams.In great used condition. The hinge works well and closed with a good snap and the striker shows no signs of wear. It has a few dimples in places from use. A beautiful item, maybe to start or add to a collection of silver, great to give a gift or just as a treat to keep yourself.
