Attractive Georgian Mahogany Antique Bookcase on Cupboard

Description

This Attractive Georgian Mahogany Antique Bookcase On Cupboard dates from the Georgian period circa, 1800 it has a moulded cornice above two astragal glazed doors with brass key escutcheon and key with working lock. Each interior has two fixed shelves and the lower section has a rectangular moulded top above two cupboard doors with moulded edges as well as beautifully figured central panels again with a brass key escutcheon and key with working lock. The interior has one adjustable shelf and the bookcase stands on shaped bracket feet, splits into two sections for easy removal. This wonderful bookcase has been adapted to these unusual small proportions most likely in the Edwardian period making it very desirable indeed. The mahogany has aged to rich medium shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
