Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1880s.
It has a moulded cornice above two glazed doors with arched mouldings, the original brass handle and key with working lock. The internal benefits from three adjustable shelves and the lower section has a frieze drawer above two cupboard doors with beautifully figured central panels again with the original brass handles. The interior has one fixed shelf and each corner has a decorative carved corbel. This super bookcase on cupboard stands on a plain plinth. The walnut has aged to a warm shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
