Bookcase Victorian Carved Oak Green Man Adjustable Shelves C1880

Here we have a fine quality Victorian carved Oak bookcase c1880. As you can see the Oak has super colour and patina. There are varying levels of quality in Victorian carved Oak furniture this is as good as it gets. There is a wonderful quarter sawn top showing the lovely medullary rays in the Oak grain. The top has a gadrooned edge with two drawers beneath. The drawers have well executed Lion mask handles with hand cut dovetail joints and Oak linings. The carving throughout the bookcase is of exceptional quality. The sides have a mixture of foliage and a wonderful depiction of the the Green Man. The door surronds have scroll work and a wonderful dog tooth moulding to the edge of the glass. The gadrooned edge is replicated on the plinth base which is slightly break fronted for that little extra stature. Internally there are three fully adjustable Oak shelves. This high quality bookcase has a solid Oak panelled back and sides and is in great retail condition. The dimensions are approx 48 inches wide 54 high and 12 deep.
