This quality Large Victorian Oak, Antique Open Bookcase dates from ca. 1890. It has a figured rectangular moulded top sitting above a decoratively carved edge, with scrolls, birds, and central urn that would have been carefully hand carved by a skilled craftsman of the Victorian period. The top is finished with two detailed carved lion heads, sitting above reeded, moulded sides.
It has aged to a warm medium / dark shade of oak with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
