Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1890s.
It has a moulded cornice above two glazed doors with an interior that contains three adjustable shelves. The base has a delightfully figured, rectangular moulded top above two drawers with moulded fronts over two cupboard doors with raised fielded, beautifully figured, panels. The interior of the cupboard has a single fixed shelf while all the doors and drawers have the original brass handles. The base is finished with a shaped apron and the sides are finished with moulded edges. The bookcase splits into two sections for ease of removal and the oak has aged to a lovely golden shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
