Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1880s.
It has a moulded cornice, with shaped Arts & Crafts style brackets, above two glazed doors having the original bevelled glass, original handles along with lovely acorn and oak leaf designed carvings. The interior of the bookcase contains three adjustable shelves. The lower section has a rectangular moulded top above two drawers with curved front panels and original handles. The base, like the top, has two glazed doors, again with the original bevelled glass, handles and carvings. The whole piece stands on a moulded plinth, splits into two sections for ease of removal and is a light golden shade of oak. It has a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
