Rare Mid 19th Century Amboyna & Rosewood Glazed Bookcase.

This glazed English bookcase dates to 1850 - 1860, and unusually is veneered in amboyna; this colour of amboyna is particulary desirable and rarely seen as a decorative veneer on English furniture.

The mouldings are made of solid rosewood - another feature that suggests quality and high cost at the time of manufacture.

The bookcase has been professionally and sensitivley restored and retains a lovley colour & surface indicative of its age.

The glazing is original and the quality of construction is excellent.

This cabinet is of fairly small proportions, and as such can be easily placed within the home - but at 9 3/4 inches deep, the adjustable shelf is able to hold the majority of today's books.
