Tall Victorian Walnut Antique Glazed Bookcase

Dating from the Victorian period, circa 1900, this very impressive antique glazed bookcase / display cabinet is constructed from walnut and has relatively tall proportions. The moulded cornice displays dental moulding and a decorative frieze with lovely blind fretwork carvings. Below this can be found two astragal glazed full length doors with brass clash mould and key with working lock. The interior contains three adjustable shelves and benefits from the glazed sides making it an ideal grand display cabinet. The piece has a moulded lower edge, stands on four cabriole legs and still retains its original back boards. The walnut has aged to a lovely rich warm medium shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
