Quality Antique Victorian, Attractively Proportioned, Glazed Bookcase

Dating from around 1860 in the Victorian period this antique mahogany glazed bookcase on cupboard is of a grand design but has very practical proportions. The stepped moulded cornice sits above two glazed doors with arched mouldings and key with working lock. The interior contains three adjustable shelves. The lower section has a rectangular top above two cupboard doors with beautifully figured central panels while the interior contains a single removable shelf. Both upper and lower sets of doors are framed with beautifully carved corbels while the whole piece stands on a plain plinth. The bookcase stands on a plain plinth, splits into three sections for ease of removal and has aged to a rich medium shade of mahogany. It has a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
