Here is an example of a superb quality French walnut open bookcase, circa 1880 – 1900, from the French 3rd Republic period. The bookcase features turned spindles and carved supports to the top shelf. Below, each of the four tiers of the bookcase is connected by very pretty turned fluted and tapered spindles, which have carved acanthus leaves at the base of each spindle. Each shelf is finished with a moulded edge. The bookcase sits on the original turned bun feet. The bookcase features the original polish and boasts a lovely colour. This is a good quality bookcase with attractive proportions and is completely original.

This item is an excellent investment but also very practical and would look superb in a variety of rooms from the office, hallway, dining room or living room. This item would certainly grace any home. So don't miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.

This item is in excellent condition and commensurate with its age. Nominal old use marks but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There is no ink; water or oil stains to the shelves. There is an excellent colour to the timber. Free of active woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
