Victorian Mahogany Open Bookcase

19th century
Description

Circa 1890 and earlier, Victorian mahogany open bookcase of generous proportions. The bookcase has castellated ends and open sections, and a panelled back. On top, there are 3 adjustable shelves in on each end and a centre section which is divided in two and has 4 shelves in each. The shelves are all faced and ribbed. There are flat pilasters between each section and a small flat surface between the top and the bottom. The bottom is similar set up with open sections and adjustable shelves. The top breaks down into four sections as does the bottom for ease of movement. The whole piece stands on an enclosed plinth. The bookcase will accommodate a massive volume of books or objects. (Alterations).

Size 270cm high x 298cm wide x 39cm deep.
