Lifesize Japanese Bronze Crane Lamp Meiji Period 1868-1912

Description

As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to be able to offer this increasingly rare lifesize Japanese bronze crane from the late Meiji period, much reproduced due to their popularity this original bronze bird holds a branch in its mouth and was intended to use as a lamp feature either indoors or out in your pond , most unusual is the base ,which is a lilly pad enabling the bird to stand freely and steady , most often they were just stood on their feet leaving them very difficult to balance.

We would suggest this could be rewired as a lamp or fed with a tube as a water feature , otherwise its just great as it is ?

The condition is lovely and original , superb old patina from use and ready for immediate delivery for your choice of venue and use .
