Steve Sly Japanese Works of Art has dated this piece to the 1870s.
I cannot emphasise the quality of the timber used to build this piece of furniture , the doors simply slide on two grooved out runners supported by solid curved mahogany sides above which sits the fabulous solid moulded edged mahogany top above a nicely grained mahogany frieze , the interior shelves are solid timber as are the original panelled backboards ,the top overhangs at the back allowing it to sit wall flush despite skirting boards , a great piece of Victorian design.
The condition is super with the most gorgeous coloured timber giving off a flame mahogany effect, there are a few minor useage marks beneath the polish and a couple of very minor chips around the bottom edge of plinth but overall its lovely and when stood in your room filled with books you will be delighted you found it !!
