This George V sterling silver trinket box originates from 1911 and is made by Charles Edwin Turner in Birmingham. The piece takes a circular, flower-shaped form with a plain, slightly domed hinged lid and scalloped edges, resting on three slender cabriole legs. The silver surface presents a reflective finish, showing minor dings on the top and base sides alongside a strong hinge and a solid base bearing visible hallmarks. Measuring 4 cm in diameter and 2.5 cm in height, the diminutive box works well for holding rings or small keepsakes. Placed on a bedside table in a traditional English country house interior, it provides a functional decorative accent that adds understated historical character to the bedroom.

Produced during the reign of King George V starting in 1910, silver trinket boxes from this era often carry forward Edwardian design sensibilities, featuring clean outlines, delicate cabriole legs, scalloped contours, and smooth polished surfaces.

These boxes were predominantly crafted from sterling silver, containing 92.5 percent pure silver alloyed with copper for structural durability. The interiors were frequently lined with silk, velvet, or leather to protect small jewellery items from scratches.

Authentic British silver features a series of stamped hallmarks including the lion passant for sterling purity, a town mark such as the Birmingham anchor, a specific date letter, and a registered makers mark.

A silver trinket box is commonly positioned on a bedroom nightstand, dressing table, or bathroom vanity tray to store daily jewellery, adding a reflective metallic accent to contemporary decor.

Regular dusting with a soft microfibre cloth prevents buildup, while gentle polishing with a specialised silver cloth removes light oxidisation. Avoid harsh chemical dips or abrasive creams that can wear down hallmarks and polished finishes.
