This cast silver wolfhound figure originates from the 1930 period, designed in an Edwardian style with a standing canine pose and anatomical detailing. The heavy gauge metal possesses a polished silver colour and features chased fur texture across the body, a distinct pointed snout, and small erect ears. Measuring 5.5 cm high, 6.8 cm wide, and 1.7 cm deep, the compact ornament sits upright on four paws with a curled tail extending behind the hindquarters. Such a decorative piece fits easily into a gentleman's library setting for display on a bookshelf among volumes or beside a desk. Collectors of animal figurines and dog enthusiasts place similar items within glass cabinets, side tables, or mantelpieces to complement traditional interior displays. The clean metallic surface and detailed chasing catch natural light from nearby windows or lamps while maintaining a stable footprint on flat wooden furniture tops.

Berthold Muller acted as a prominent London importer of Continental silver during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, distributing work produced by Hanau silversmiths such as Neresheimer. These cast silver animal models were produced for display on dining tables and inside collector cabinets.

These figures were created using lost-wax or sand casting techniques to produce solid or thick-walled silver forms. Craftspeople then used hand-finishing tools for chasing and engraving to render surface details such as coat textures and facial features.

Authentic pieces typically feature official hallmarking or sponsor marks, such as the BM mark for Berthold Muller, alongside import marks or Hanau pseudo-hallmarks. The weight, fine chased detailing in the fur, and naturalistic proportions distinguish original items.

A small silver figure functions as an accent piece placed atop stacked design books, on a mantelpiece, or within a cabinet shelf display. Positioning the item near soft ambient lighting highlights the reflective, chased surface texture against wood or stone backgrounds.

Clean cast silver using a soft-bristled brush and a mild silver polish formulated to avoid abrasive scratching in recessed details. Regular light dusting with a microfibre cloth prevents heavy tarnish build-up without stripping light patina from the chased areas.
