Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian table lamp takes the form of a tapered baluster body in red lacquer, finished with a brass bulb socket on top and a circular base below. The surface displays hand-painted gilt chinoiserie figures and pagoda scenes alongside black and gold landscape details, showing gentle wear to the lacquered finish and gilt work. The visible background cabinet incorporates fielded panels, drop-ring handles and an H-shaped brass hinge, while a small book with a patterned spine rests on the white surface nearby. Standing 38 cm high, the lamp works well on a sideboard top or side table in an English Country House interior.

Chinoiserie lighting incorporates European interpretations of East Asian artistic traditions, characterised by decorative motifs such as pagodas, landscapes, and figures painted on lacquered surfaces.

Traditional lacquered lamps were crafted using wooden bases coated in multiple layers of resin-based lacquer, which were then hand-painted with mineral pigments and gold leaf detailing before adding metal electrical fitments.

Authentic pieces feature signs of age including fine craquelure in the lacquer, hand-painted artwork with natural variations in brushwork, and solid brass light socket assemblies.

Position a Chinoiserie table lamp on a sideboard, desk, or bedside table to serve as a focal point, pairing it alongside neutral backdrops or classic timber furniture.

Dust the surface gently with a soft dry microfibre cloth and avoid using solvent cleaners, water, or abrasive polishes that could damage the delicate lacquer finish and gilding.
