Description

Rustic early Antique Heriz carpet woven over 140 years ago and using the best natural ancient dyes.  A rare sandy toned main border with large scale green, terracotta and blue leaves in the a graphic geometric style.  The overall pattern is full of wonderful motifs, stars, latch-hook patterns and large abstract floral designs, full of interest and amazing charm.  The main background is a varying palette of softer pinkish red tones, we see lots of dye change (abrash) which is the different wool used over 140 years ago, this adds a lot of depth and character.

A couple of old areas of tiny restoration have taken place on the main background, these are minimal and barely visible and could be improved if required.  The wool pile is medium high on this piece with a only a few minor lower areas of pile, both ends have been secured too.  In general it is in excellent original order and it would be a durable and decorative addition to any room.
