An engagement ring dating from the mid-century period around 1950, executed in platinum with a polished silver-coloured finish. The design incorporates a large central round brilliant cut diamond held in a multi-claw setting, complemented by architectural shoulders set with baguette-cut and smaller eight-cut accent diamonds, alongside an openwork gallery and a slender band. The central stone measures 8.00 x 7.83 mm and sits 6.6 mm above the finger, with a total weight of 3.66 grams. Suitable for daily wear as a timeless piece of jewellery, it fits comfortably on the hand and integrates easily into modern wardrobes. The ring serves as a refined accessory for formal occasions or everyday elegance, functioning well as a primary token of commitment worn on the left ring finger alongside a wedding band or independently.

1950s engagement rings are defined by a return to classic symmetry, prominent central round brilliant-cut diamonds, and platinum or white gold settings. Shoulder details frequently incorporate baguette, marquise, or small round accent stones set into decorative openwork galleries.

Mid-century jewellery predominantly utilised high-purity platinum and 18-carat white gold for settings to emphasize the colourlessness of diamonds. Central stones were typically round brilliant or transitional cut diamonds, complemented by step-cut baguette diamonds.

Authentic pieces from this era usually feature hallmark stamps indicating metal purity, distinct hand-finished claw settings, and specific diamond cutting proportions consistent with mid-twentieth-century lapidary techniques.

A mid-century engagement ring pairs well with a slender, plain platinum wedding band or a delicate diamond eternity ring. The classic white metal hue allows for seamless stacking with both contemporary and vintage jewellery pieces.

Clean the ring periodically using warm water, mild detergent, and a soft-bristled brush to remove accumulated oils. Professional annual inspections ensure that the claw settings remain secure and the central diamond remains safely mounted.
