We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1930 Art Deco English dressing table by Gomme of Wycombe is constructed from honey brown oak veneer with ebonised black trim, plinths, and horizontal bar handles. The machine-age design incorporates stepped drawer pedestals flanking a kneehole, supporting a clear glass top surface that intersects a three-piece oval mirror featuring chrome trim. Additional visual elements include exposed metal fixings on the mirror plates and a Gomme maker's badge located inside the top right-hand drawer. The piece measures 162.5 cm high, 122 cm wide, and 48.5 cm deep overall, with a table height of 66 cm. This dressing table functions as a bedroom vanity unit and includes a matching revolving, height-adjustable desk chair designed to fit beneath the central recess.

Art Deco dressing tables from this era are characterised by streamlined geometric silhouettes, curved architectural forms, large integrated mirrors, and stepped pedestal bases.

Pieces from this period frequently utilised decorative wood veneers such as oak, walnut, or satinwood applied over solid timber framing, combined with plate glass, silvered mirrors, and chrome or Bakelite hardware.

Authentic examples feature original silvered glass mirrors, period-correct drawer construction such as hand-cut dovetails, stepped geometric pediments, and original horizontal or geometric handle fittings.

Place the piece against a neutral wall to highlight its structural silhouette, paired with modern minimal lighting and clean-lined decorative accents to complement the geometric design.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth, apply natural beeswax sparingly to preserve the wood finish, and clean glass surfaces with a microfibre cloth without contacting the mirrored backing.
