We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency bowfront chest of drawers features a convex curved front facade, mahogany veneers, and balanced proportions typical of early nineteenth-century British cabinetmaking. The design often incorporates crossbanded top borders, graduated drawer arrangements, and brass ring pull handles.

Primary surfaces were predominantly constructed using flame mahogany veneers on pine or oak carcasses. Secondary timbers for drawer linings frequently include oak or pine, joined with hand-cut dovetails and fitted with cast or stamped brass hardware.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-sawn carcass construction, and natural timber shrinkage lines along the bottom panels. Look for genuine age wear on the drawer runners, unevenness in hand-planed surfaces, and original lock mechanisms.

An antique mahogany chest functions well as a focal point in hallways, bedrooms, or living spaces when paired with contemporary abstract artwork or modern lighting. Neutral wall backdrops highlight the warm tones of polished mahogany without overwhelming the room layout.

Apply a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber and protect the finish. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent veneer cracking and timber movement.
