This nineteenth-century chest of drawers follows the Queen Anne style revival, constructed from timber with a warm brown finish. The facade presents highly figured burr walnut veneers alongside crossbanded detailing and grain patterns throughout the wood. Five horizontal drawers are arranged in a two-over-three configuration, accented by brass drop handles and matching escutcheons around keyholes. The top tier contains two smaller drawers side by side above three wider drawers below, all framed by linear moulding strips on the perimeter of each drawer front. Two rounded bun feet support the piece from the lower corners. The item measures 103 cm high, 92 cm wide, and 48 cm deep. A piece of this proportion works well in a traditional bedroom or dressing area for clothing storage, or serves as a surface in a hallway or living space to hold lamps, mirrors, or decorative objects while storing household linens.

Queen Anne style furniture, originating in early 18th-century England and revived during the Victorian era, is defined by restrained elegance, cabriole or compressed bun feet, decorative veneers such as burr walnut, and classical symmetry with understated mouldings.

These pieces typically feature solid timber carcasses overlaid with figured or burr walnut veneers, hand-cut dovetailed drawer joints, secondary timber drawer linings such as pine or oak, and cast brass backplate handles.

Authentic 19th-century examples display signs of period construction, including irregular hand-sawn veneer thickness, hand-cut dovetail joints on drawer sides, original timber shrinkage lines, and natural age-related oxidisation to the brass hardware and drawer interiors.

A period walnut chest works well set against neutral or moody dark paint tones, paired with modern abstract artwork above the top or balanced with contemporary ceramic lamps to create contrast between modern and historic elements.

Keep the wood away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent shrinkage and veneer lifting. Preserve the finish by applying a high-quality beeswax paste once or twice a year, buffing lightly along the direction of the grain.
