This Queen Anne Revival chest of drawers dates from around 1920 and is made from burr walnut and walnut in a warm brown colour with mahogany-lined drawers and a waxed finish. The piece has a rectangular top with a carved edge above two short drawers and four long graduating drawers fitted with brass drop ring handles featuring lion mask motifs. The structure includes a moulded base supported by short cabriole legs with carved detail at the knees. The chest stands 101.5 cm high, 79 cm wide and 47 cm deep. It provides practical storage for clothing or linens and suits a bedroom or hallway in an English country house interior.

Queen Anne Revival furniture from the early 20th century typically features carved cabriole legs, pad or claw feet, and rich wood veneers such as burr walnut. The style draws inspiration from 18th-century English designs, emphasizing elegant curves and understated classical proportions.

These chests are built using solid timber framesoften pine or oak for internal drawer liningssurfaced with thin veneers cut from walnut burrs. Brass hardware, including teardrop or swan-neck drop handles and escutcheons, is standard for handles and keyholes.

Authentic 1920s pieces feature hand-cut or fine machine-cut dovetail joints, book-matched veneer patterns across drawer fronts, and natural age-related oxidisation on the brass fitments and interior timbers.

Place the piece against a neutral or dark backdrop to complement the natural figure of the wood grain. Combining the traditional timber tone with modern ceramic lighting or contemporary wall art creates an engaging juxtaposition.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the timber finish. Position the item away from direct sunlight, radiators, and damp walls to prevent veneer lifting or wood movement.
