Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. The Sustainable Choice

This small antique bow fronted chest of drawers dates from the Queen Anne revival period around 1920. Constructed from warm brown burr walnut with crossbanded edges, the piece has a figured top above two short drawers and two long graduated drawers below. Each drawer front displays distinct grain patterns and is fitted with dark drop handles and matching backplates. Standing on short cabriole legs decorated with carved shell motifs at the knees, the cabinet measures 82 cm high, 62.8 cm wide, and 54.6 cm deep. This compact furniture item provides practical storage for folded clothing or accessories while occupying minimal floor space, making it a functional addition to a bedroom, hallway, or living room in a traditional home interior.

FAQs

Queen Anne style furniture emerged in early 18th-century England, characterised by graceful curves, cabriole legs, and rich burr walnut veneers. These pieces prioritise balanced proportions and natural timber grain patterns over heavy carved ornamentation.

Traditional construction features solid timber frames veneered with figured burr walnut, often edged with herringbone inlay or crossbanding. Drawers typically showcase hand-cut dovetail joints, oak secondary linings, and cast brass drop handles.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints on drawer construction, oak secondary drawer linings, and natural timber shrinkage lines along veneer seams. Wear on drawer runners and original brassware cast with minor surface inconsistencies also indicate age.

A classic walnut chest functions as an anchor piece in modern interiors when contrasted against contemporary artwork or minimalist ceramics. Positioning the item against a neutral backdrop allows the timber grain and patination to remain the visual focus.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish twice annually following the direction of the grain. Keep the item away from direct heat sources, radiators, and prolonged sunlight to prevent veneer lifting.
