Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Furniture from the George V period (19101936) often revisited historical English styles, such as Queen Anne, Georgian, and Chippendale revival designs. Pieces frequently featured high-quality veneers, including burr walnut and mahogany, combined with traditional joinery and classic brass fittings.

Chests from this period typically featured solid timber frameworks, such as oak or pine, covered in decorative hardwood veneers like burr walnut. Hardware was commonly cast in brass, featuring classic drop-handles and escutcheons.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, original locks with keyholes, and quarter-sawn or book-matched veneer work. The timber inside drawer linings should show age-appropriate wear and natural oxidation.

A dark walnut chest serves as an anchor piece in neutral modern spaces, offering warmth against painted walls. Combining the textured wood surface with contemporary lighting or minimalist art creates a balanced, layered aesthetic.

Walnut veneer should be kept away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying or fading. Regular dusting with a soft cloth and occasional application of high-grade beeswax protects the natural patina and finish.
