Antique 0.62ct Diamond and 18ct White Gold Dress Ring Circa 1930

1920 - 1940
For Sale by AC Silver
Description

A fine and impressive antique 0.62 carat diamond and 18 carat white gold organic bombe dress ring; part of our diverse antique jewellery and estate jewelry collections.

This fine and impressive multi-layered diamond ring has been crafted in 18ct white gold.

The substantial bombe style dress ring is embellished with chased decorated layered, fan-like radiating leaf and petal patterns; this style ring exemplifies the bold, highly tactile late-Art Deco transition toward voluminous, dome-shaped bombe profiles and intricate carved metalwork.

The multi-layered setting is ornamented with a feature Old European round cut diamond, six claw set in relief to the centre of the floral design.

The feature diamond is encircled by six pavé set Dutch cut diamonds, completing the floral cluster arrangement.

The broad ring shoulders are ornamented with a continuation of foliate decoration, integrating with the main setting and melding with the plain hallmarked ring shank.

The ring is hallmarked to the interior of the shank with the marks for 18ct gold (18CT) and has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 18 carat gold.

This impressive diamond ring is supplied with an IDGL diamond grading report card.

The multi layered diamond ring creates impressive visual presence through its graduated arrangement of diamond-set bands. Crafted in 18ct white gold during the 1930s, the cool-toned setting enhances the brilliance of the diamonds while complementing its distinctive antique design. Its striking yet refined character makes it particularly suited to special occasions, milestone celebrations, or as an individual heirloom piece.

Images do not always reflect the true colour and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual colour and showcases each stone.

Condition

This antique 1930's cocktail ring is excellent quality, set with high colour graded diamonds displaying a fine white colour and brilliance.

The ring is an excellent gauge of gold and is in excellent condition, with a clear hallmark to the interior of the shank.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of diamond jewellery.

This Art Deco 18ct white gold dress ring dates from 1930. The substantial bombe style ring presents a silver coloured finish with a multi-layered design. It is embellished with chased decorated layered, fan-like radiating leaf and petal patterns alongside engraved leaf motifs, geometric relief, and textured floral petals. The central claw setting holds a feature Old European round cut diamond encircled by six pavé set Dutch cut diamonds in a floral cluster arrangement. Broad ring shoulders integrate with the main setting and melt into a plain hallmarked ring shank marked inside with 18ct gold marks. The ring has a setting length of 1.4 cm, a setting width of 1.98 cm, and a setting height of 7.34 mm, with a UK ring size Q and USA ring size 8, weighing 8.00 grams. It suits special occasions, milestone celebrations, or everyday wear as an individual heirloom piece, bringing tactile texture and vintage glamour to any hand.

Art Deco diamond rings from the 1930s are characterized by stylized floral or geometric patterns, detailed hand engraving, and the predominant use of white gold or platinum.

Rings from this era were routinely crafted in 18ct white gold or platinum, incorporating brilliant-cut or old European-cut diamonds set into textured or millegrain-bordered settings.

Authentic period pieces feature hallmark stamps indicating metal purity, evidence of crisp hand-carved or engine-turned detailing, and period-appropriate gem-cutting styles.

An antique dress ring acts as a standalone statement piece on the right hand, or can be layered alongside understated plain bands to highlight the detailed metalwork.

Clean the piece gently using warm soapy water and a soft brush, avoid exposing it to harsh household chemicals, and store it separately in a lined box to prevent abrasion.
